COGINCHAUG REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
POPS
2007-2008
PARENTS OF PERFORMERS

POPS is beginning its 14th year, and it will be a another exciting one for us.  This year, we will be hosting the Shoreline Music Festival on October 11, 2007.  Students from 9 area schools are selected by their teachers to participate in this concert.  They will rehearse together at Coginchaug on October 3rd and will rehearse again on October 11th with a 7 p.m. concert to follow.

SOME POPS FACTS

WHO we are: Parents of students involved in chorus, show choir, concert band, jazz band---MUSIC!!

WHAT we do: We work along with Lisa Larsen and Dean Coutsouridis to organize fund raising activities and provide manpower for events that directly benefit our children and the music department.

WHEN we do it: Every chance we get! If you see someone selling cookies, cakes, and drinks at intermission during a concert; that’s us! You will see us at the Durham Fair selling cotton candy and candy apples. Throughout the year, we have special fund-raisers where we sell anything from wrapping paper to citrus fruit.

WHY we do it: Because it’s fun and to raise funds for expensive instruments, equipment, and wonderful trips for our kids. We have raised money for new uniforms, an electric keyboard, shelving for the new music room, helped supplement field trips and even set up a college scholarship for students going into the arts.

HOW you can help: Your active support can take many forms; bake cookies, work at the Durham Fair booth, or make phone calls to other parents to recruit their help. You can be involved as much or as little as possible, but your participation is important to maintain the high standards our wonderful music department has achieved.

WHERE: Meetings are usually held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month in the Teacher’s Lounge at Coginchaug at 7:30 p.m.
